However, this problem may not be in your drain system, but possibly your neighbours is where it originally started from. So, a drain survey is an important asset to determine the exact possible drains that are causing the rat infestations. The first giveaway is when a drain cover is lifted evidence of rat activity, rat dropping, claw marks, smear marks, chewing, human poo being pulled out of the drain flow, also signs of debris, broken drain stones, dirt, etc.
So, when we conduct a drain survey we will ask as many questions as possible. How long has the problem been going on for, what treatment has been done, did the problem stop then return or not stop, are there any drain that have been dug around or chewing taken place, or even replaced. There are many question to ask & this will help solve your rat problems.
Some drain systems belong the various water authorities that may /will need permission. Also, responsibility for sewers & drains is shared between, owner, water & sewage companies, local authorities & the highways agency. Its always help if you have or know the history of your drainage system.
